Illustration

There is a lot of other stuff I like to make besides editorial illustrations. Experimenting with lines shapes and textures in one of my main interests. Even when I'm not actively focussing on it, it's always in the back of my mind. This is probably why most of my work is has a bit of a graphic style to it. I love trying and experimenting with different things so I can apply it to future work. You can find some of my bigger illustration projects on the subpage named 'projects'.

This is a spread inspired by the book 'de grote 8' by Vrouwkje Tuinman. The book tells a story about a girl who suffered abuse by her dad in her early ages. It shows how the abuse has left it's marks on her, even when she's older and her dad already passed away. I noticed there was a correlation between the way coffee was mentioned in the story and the abuse. So I used coffee as a methaphor for the abuse and lingering issues it brought with it.
